The Ancient Marble and Alabaster Sculptures category offers a refined Female Sculpture, a Young Woman leaning

on a classical column and peering expectantly, the work realised is in alabaster, a shiny and elegant material

used by artists to sculpt their works of art. The age of antique sculpture is from the end of the 19th century.

The ancient female statue in alabaster bears the signature of G. Gambogi, an Italian Sculptor.

Giuseppe Gambogi (1862-1938), was born in Pisa, but works in Florence where he has his studio-atelier with his children.

For his works he uses various materials in marble, alabaster and bronze. Sculptor with a romantic and orientalist taste.

Many works created by the sculptor were made for the foreign market and some of them are kept in the museum of Dantesco in Ravenna.

The sculpture is in excellent condition even if it has undergone minor restorations.
