This is an antique Mountain Landscape Oil Painting with Lake, XIXth Century. 19th Century.

This oil painting on paper has an original gold leaf frame, original and coeval with the antique painting. 

The ancient painting is signed by a French painter at the bottom left Lortet and dated 1857, a landscape painter.

Leberecht Lortet (1828-1901) was born of French parents in Heidelberg, Germany, but lived for a long time in Lyon, France.

A pupil of Alexandre Calame in Geneva, he exhibited from 1858 at the 'Salon de Lyon' and then from 1859 to 1870 at the 'Salon Des Artistes Français'.

He loved painting mountain landscapes and studied the effect of light on lake water and rocks, as can be seen in this proposed work.

Many works by this artist are preserved and exhibited in various French museums.  The frame and the painting are restored.

The oil on paper painting dates back to the nineteenth Century and it is an artwork of Bisgart Collection of Antique Paintings of the 19th Century.
