This is a portrait of women working in a fruit and vegetable market, in a moment of pause,

painted in warm colours and with quick brushstrokes. Impressionist Painting

The work is signed bottom left by Sydney Muschamp, British painter of genre and historical scenes.

Francis Sydney Muschamp (1851-1929) London painter who exhibited his works between 1870 and 1903

in many Art Salons. He exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, but also at the Royal Academy (1884-1903),

at the ‘Royal Institute of Painters in Oils’ and also in Birmingham.

The painting has an antique gilded frame where the label with the artist's name and the title of the work ‘Fruitstalletje’.

 The frame and the oil painting are carefully and professionally restored.
