Louis-René Boulanger (1860- 1917) was born in Brou (Ain) and was a pupil of Yon and Louis Français at the

School of the 'Beaux Arts de Paris'. He left Paris and settled in the Ain where he received many commissions.

He became professor of drawing in Bourg-en-Bresse and became director of the museum in this town in 1911.

Some works by this artist are kept in the museum in Brou.

The oil painting adorns a beautiful gilded frame in pure gold leaf coeval with the work.

The antique painting and the gilded frame are carefully and professionally restored.
