The old oil painting is signed in the bottom right by Zwengauer (1810 - 1884), German landscape and mountain

landscape painter. Anton Zwengauer (1810 - 1884) was born in Munich, Bavaria. He was a pupil of Peter von

Cornelius and studied at the Munich Academy of Arts.

In 1835, King Maximilian II of Bavaria appointed him conservator of the Schleissheim Castle Picture Gallery

and in 1869 of the Royal Picture Gallery, 'Pinakothek'.

Zwengauer painted mainly mountain landscapes of Bavaria and southern Tyrol.

The oil painting adorns a beautiful gilded frame in pure gold leaf coeval with the work.

The antique painting and the gilded frame are professionally restored.
