Louis Alphonse Combe-Velluet (1842-1902) was born in Poitires (Vienne), a pupil of Gérome and began exhibiting at the

Salon des Artistes de Paris from 1861 until 1882. In 1889 he was honoured at the Exposition Universelle.

Some paintings by this painter can be found in French museums: Niort and Rochefort.

The oil painting is dressed in a beautiful gilded frame.
